Online Child Advocacy Studies Certificate
The Child Advocacy Studies certificate is designed to prepare students for the realities of child protection, serving the needs of those interested in working directly with maltreated or at-risk children. The necessary courses are a perfect fit for those seeking to become or specialize as child protection professionals, victim witness workers, lawyers, school social workers, and treatment providers. The program adheres to the standards laid out by the National Child Protection Training Center (NCPTC), which is funded by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The faculty members that teach the required courses for the certificate are each accomplished leaders in child advocacy, conducting cutting-edge, ongoing research and bringing practical expertise to the program’s materials. These experts have helped shape the certificate to provide a unique blend of psychological and sociological perspectives, closely examining both the process of assisting the individual victim, and the broader civil effort to end child abuse.
While the certificate is a separate credential, the 9 credit hours required to earn the certificate may be applied towards the master’s degree in criminal justice. Students can also choose to pursue a certificate in Child Advocacy Studies (CAST) while they earn the online Master of Science in Criminal Justice.
